Overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and professional individual to join our Finance Function. You will make a great addition to our Revenue Control department, a team responsible for generating client invoices and helping to ensure we are paid for the work we do. The team plays a fundamental role in controlling and sustaining cashflow and are therefore key to the financial success of the firm. A typical day Provide a billing service to our internal lawyers allowing them to turn their chargeable hours into revenue (money) Producing client invoices and cost analysis to deadlines Ensure accurate entry into the firm’s accounting systems of all billing actions Working from a team mailbox picking up incoming queries and dealing with them promptly and efficiently Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and VAT regulations Conduct direct communication with clients by email and phone on overdue invoices in accordance with agreed payment terms Log all actions taken when debt chasing using the firm’s diary debt management system, noting next steps to be taken Help manage expectations of cash inflow patterns by way of daily/weekly update to the Senior Credit Controller Review electronic invoices (eBills) in broker systems, identify & escalate issues where required Liaising with our cashiers’ team helping them to allocate unidentified monies received Take on role of a 'trusted advisor’ liaising with our lawyers with support and guidance as to how they can best manage their deals from a billing/cash collection perspective You must have Five GCSE grades C - A (4-9) or equivalent, including English and Maths B or 5 at GCSE Maths Level 3 qualification (A level, BTEC or equivalent) Skills needed: High level of professionalism and integrity The resilience to deal with high performing individuals Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to use own initiative in situations Well organised, able to prioritise and manage workload Proven ability to demonstrate assertiveness in a professional manner Ability to accept instructions and guidance from team members and ask if unsure Good eye for detail and presentation Ability to manage user expectations Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, in particular Outlook and Excel Perks and benefits: WhiteHat community Pension Training provided: Training on the 18 month Standard Level 3 Assistant Accountant (AAT3) apprenticeship. Future prospects: After your Accounting apprenticeship progress into a full-time role as Junior Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeping Assistant, Junior Tax Consultant or Audit Assistant. You can also complete the ACCA qualification into Chartered Accountancy.
