We are a rapidly growing UK-based Electronic Money Institution (EMI), authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Our mission is to provide innovative, secure, and compliant financial solutions to our clients. As we expand, we are seeking a meticulous and proactive Bookkeeper to join our finance team and support our CFO in maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Bookkeeping: Accurately record all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, using our accounting software156.
Bank Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile company financial records with bank statements to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies1356.
Accounts Receivable & Payable: Manage customer invoicing, monitor incoming payments, follow up on overdue accounts, and ensure timely payment of supplier invoices56.
VAT Returns & Tax Filings: Prepare and submit VAT returns, assist with tax calculations, and support the preparation of annual financial statements125.
Payroll Processing: Calculate employee pay, process payroll, and ensure compliance with relevant tax and regulatory requirements256.
Monthly & Annual Reporting: Generate monthly management reports and assist with end-of-year financial statements for internal and external stakeholders156.
Support CFO with Regulatory Compliance:
Safeguarding Reconciliation: Assist with the reconciliation of safeguarded client funds, ensuring compliance with FCA requirements for EMIs4.
Capital Requirements Monitoring: Support the CFO in monitoring and reporting on capital adequacy, ensuring the firm meets minimum regulatory capital thresholds4.
Internal Controls: Help implement and maintain robust internal controls and segregation of duties to safeguard assets and prevent fraud34.
Audit Support: Prepare documentation and support internal/external audits, providing clear records of reconciliations and financial activities35.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in the review and enhancement of financial processes and reconciliation procedures to improve efficiency and compliance35.
Liaison: Act as a point of contact between the finance team, auditors, and regulatory authorities on bookkeeping matters5.
Qualifications & SkillsProven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably within a regulated financial services or EMI environment.
Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, and payroll requirements125.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
Familiarity with FCA safeguarding and capital requirements for EMIs is highly desirable4.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational, and communication skills.
