Risk Appetite Manager
Overview
Job Description
The Risk Appetite Manager will be responsible for managing the evolution and continued operation of the firm's risk appetite framework with coverage extending across all risk types. This will involve supporting the firm's transition to AIRB, managing our response to new and emerging threats (incl. Climate Change) and ongoing refinement of various core, firm-wide exercises, including the annual Risk Appetite Statement Review, the ICAAP and the Recovery Plan. Role will involve significant exposure to, and interaction with, senior management across the group, both across Risk, central functions and the wider businesses. Successful applicant will form part of a small but dynamic Risk Operations team, reporting into the Head of Risk Operations & Strategy. The team is well-regarded for its insight and expertise, particularly with regards to risk appetite and risk governance, and works closely in conjunction with the Group CRO to manage various workstreams and projects that transcend the group's Principal Risk universe. Key Responsibilities: People- * Support the Head of Risk Operations & Strategy in providing oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures, standards and SLAs * Work with the Head of Risk Operations & Strategy to develop a culture of performance management, improvement and appraisal as a foundation for excellent organisational performance. Processes- * Manage the annual review of the group's risk appetite statements, working with relevant function heads to ensure timely and effective delivery and contributing to the evolution and advancement of underlying key risk indicators * Support the operation and ongoing development of the group's stress testing framework, contributing to central stress loss monitoring and the preparation of monthly utilisation reports * Provide oversight of business and Group-level risk appetite trends, supporting the identification of key risk issues and delivering high quality solutions through engagement with relevant function and business leads * Contribute to the evolution of the firm's Climate Risk Framework, working with relevant functional and business leads to build-out appropriate risk management and scenario analysis approaches, as well as supporting the development of TCFD-compliant disclosures. * Drive the refinement of the group's risk appetite reporting framework, and specifically the advancement of reporting at an executive and Board-level * Provide review and challenge of material risk appetite requests, providing specialist support to the Head of Risk Operations & Strategy * Oversee the monitoring and reporting of emerging risks at all levels of the organisation, contributing to specialist projects and initiatives launched in response to material external developments * Assist the Head of Risk Operations & Strategy in delivering key regulatory workstreams impacting risk appetite, including but not limited to the group's ICAAP, ILAAP and RRP. * As part of the ICAAP, provide material support and oversight of the firm's Pillar 2A process, working with relevant risk owners to refine methodologies and consolidate / aggregated outputs. * Provide specialist assistance to key Risk change programmes including AIRB and IFRS9 * Compile presentations for senior management on various risk appetite initiatives, and as the role evolves, present directly to the executive risk committee and the Board Conduct, Risk and Compliance- * Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required * Behave at all times in line with Close Brothers 'Vision and Values'
