Job Description

Responsible for carrying out a wide range of assurance activities across the Banking Division. This second line monitoring activity will include both business specific and themed based assurance activities. Much of the testing will be of controls with some more detailed process testing. Areas covered will include assurance activities covering a wide range of areas including: Risk appetite, KRI metrics and triggers, Risk Governance, Policies, Standards and Procedures, Risk and Control Registers, and Risk Acceptance. Main focus of the role will be Operational Risk Assurance across the banking book, however the role may also include coverage of Credit Risk and Financial Crime risk. Wider topics such as Third-Party Management and Incident Management will also be within scope of the team's activities. The job holder will be part of a small team focusing on risk covering an extensive portfolio of topics. The role holder will engage with colleagues at all levels across the Bank including senior management. The role involves assisting with the delivery of a planned programme of work, together with a variety of 'ad hoc' monitoring, review and investigative projects where appropriate. Although it is anticipated that the role holder will not have direct line management responsibilities, at least initially, there will opportunities for leading assignments with others supporting. This will require hands on testing and also coaching and supporting others in the team to identify risks to test, create appropriate test programmes and leading the review closure and reporting process. The incumbent will have the opportunity to leverage their previous experience in supporting developments of the team with various initiates including developing the methodology, management information reporting, annual planning analysis, stakeholder engagement etc. The Assurance Team will work closely with the Compliance Monitoring Team to utilize experience to best effect. The role will be based in London but will require travel throughout the UK, with limited travel to the Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland and Germany. Key Responsibilities: Planning * Support the Assurance Manager in the preparation of the annual risk-based assurance programme for the Banking Division * Prepare bespoke work programmes and plans for 'on site' visits. Performing * Operational Risk, credit risk and other risk assurance reviews, including through the participation in 'on-site' visits and desk-based analysis, leading these reviews as necessary and addressing technical and administrative issues as they arise. * Prepare high quality monitoring reports in a timely manner, clearly identifying issues and required actions; * Participate in internal investigations, as required; * Stakeholder engagement. Reporting * Present report findings to divisional senior management and others; * Draft summary results for Governance and MI purposes including discussion at Boards and Committees
