Overview

Clinical Advisor We are searching for an experienced Clinical Advisor Overall Job Purpose In RSM’s assurance practice, we want to make a difference to the clients we work with. The RSM Risk Assurance team believe in breaking the mould from traditional accountancy firms and, through a flexible approach to our clients, we offer services tailored to their needs and ensure that we are not just providing ‘endless reviews’, but we actually get involved and drive real improvement. One of our largest sectors is Health and within that we provide both Advisory and Assurance Services to our clients. Most prominently amongst these is the provision of internal audit services to over 90 NHS organisations across the commissioner and provider spectrum. Increasingly and understandably we are asked to provide a broader level of assurance that covers off clinical governance, patient safety and risks at ward level or in other clinical settings. Therefore, we are looking for a senior level clinician to help support our assurance and advisory teams in conducting reviews alongside our experienced non-clinical team. We are looking for a senior, credible clinician, possibly with some consultancy experience, who is flexible and a self-starter capable of understanding clinical risk and what good practice might entail. We are keen for the role to be flexible based upon a commitment of at least 100 days per annum. Most commonly the work will involve supporting the in-house health internal audit team, conducting reviews, scoping assurance reviews and supporting the teams in winning new work. There will be some requirement for travel and a flexible approach. Responsibilities Lead and manage complex engagement. Train non-clinical staff in basic understanding of clinical practices, controls, assurances and risks. Business development – e.g. shaping client proposals, attending client competitive bids and pitches, selling direct to clients. Subject Matter Expert and ‘Go-To Person’ on clinical matters within the firm. Deliver reports and bespoke agreed work to time and budget. Build and maintain a strong internal network and awareness of RSM services to ensure that our clients benefit from the breadth of clinical advice/expertise available. Requirements Develops and positively influences relationships in order to capture ‘buy-in’ and deliver improvements. An ability to sell ideas and changes to others – possibly demonstrated by a previous track record of operational improvement. Consistently demonstrated advanced messaging skills (complex communications, senior level presentations, managing difficult messages positively). An ability to organise at multiple levels and is prepared to accept a national level role which will encompass travel and multi-disciplinary working. Highly motivated, self-starter who is comfortable acting on their own initiative and can demonstrate growth and implementation of ideas. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, environment. Highly organised, demonstrable ability to manage a broad range of activities and deliver against commitments. Ability to prioritise and sequence multiple and potentially conflicting priorities and managing stakeholder expectations. Demonstrates effective team working. Demonstrates pro-activity with a focus on results. High level of personal resilience. Experience in some or all of the following would be ideal. Senior level clinical position and has personally driven changes in clinical practice safely and effectively. Experience in clinical governance lead / management role(s) and demonstration of improvements in clinical performance and governance. Regulatory experience in assessing clinical practice. A clinical consultancy role which has delivered demonstrable change and improvements for clients. A proven ability to translate objectives into deliverable design, and develop deliverables that address complex situations. Academic and/or research background and current clinical qualification.
