Overview
Income Advisor Location: King’s Lynn, PE30 1DZ Salary: Circa £22,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, 8.45 – 5.15 Monday – Thursday, 8.45- 4.45 Friday with an hour for lunch About the Company: Our client was set up in 2006 and now manages around 7,000 homes and 17 sheltered schemes in West Norfolk. They employ over 200 people and as part of the e2 consortium, they aim to build strong and sustainable communities by providing high quality affordable homes within well designed neighbourhoods. They are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Income Advisor who will work within the Income team to collect and recover rental income. Income Advisor Responsibilities: Deliver a technical income management service to customers, both face to face in office interviews, over the phone and lone working through visits to customers’ homes, providing accurate advice on income maximization, debt management and welfare benefit advice Take responsibility for identifying and resolving any unmet support needs with customers, through accurate and timely referrals, liaising with internal and external colleagues Effectively manage an individual case load of debt, ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements, by escalating cases robustly using your own discretion and decision making, whilst also correctly applying procedures, to meet corporate and team targets Demonstrate strong negotiation and communication skills with customers, in assessing personal finances, agreeing suitable payment arrangements, and appropriately challenging non-payment Accurately assess the financial viability of potential new tenancies, through a detailed assessment of finances, and take responsibility for decision making in regard to whether the offer of a tenancy should be made Accurately collate legal paperwork, to effectively instruct legal colleagues to take legal action on rent possession matters, so that the desired outcome is achieved, in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules and Pre Action Protocol Income Advisor Requirements: Proven experience within a customer service environment working for a housing provider or other public service organisation, including face-to-face interaction with customers Demonstration of a balanced approach when working with customers, to include high level of customer care with the need for maximising rent collection. Knowledge of debt collection and agencies involved in the support of vulnerable customers. Proven experience of working to achieve specific targets Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (A-C grades) or equivalent including English & Maths.
