Design Engineer Our client is a high quality, innovative, independent business providing solutions to the Oil & Gas industry. The company has grown significantly and is enjoying strong trading conditions as it seeks to further enhance its improving market position. The business is looking to recruit an experienced mechanical Design Engineer to bolster its design and engineering teams, ensuring world class new and innovative products are developed on time and to budget for customers to enable growth. Working in the Design Team and as part of the overall Engineering team, you will interact extensively across business functions, especially manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing, at all stages of product development. A 'hands-on’ design role you will lead and manage engineering deliverables within project teams, utilising leading 3D CAD systems. Your responsibilities as Design Engineer will include: • Design, development and implementation of technically innovative and commercially competitive new products • Ensuring all component parts and products are designed in strict compliance with mandatory national and international regulatory requirements • Ensuring all components and products meet agreed specifications and performance expectations • Ensuring all department technical and design documentation is clear, meticulous, accurate and controlled • Providing technical and application support, updates and progression relating to the product development • Providing authoritative, factual and substantive technical writing and documentation for use by marketing and other business activities • Providing regular status reports and presentations to the senior management team regarding project progress • Managing and leading projects when required, providing sound project management and leadership ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to budget, from concept through to launch, some of which may be outside of the normal remit of the role As Design Engineer you will need: • Strong experience gained as a Mechanical Design Engineer in a product design and development role with a demonstrable and proven track record of new product development success and contribution to business growth while working to stringent deadlines and budgets • Commercially aware, customer-focussed approach with an aptitude for innovation - designing and developing world class, class leading new products • Technically strong and educated to degree level in Engineering (preferably with a mechanical bias) or closely related discipline • Strong abilities in; Concept generation, detail design, DFMEA process, problem solving techniques and design for manufacture • Proficient 3D CAD user (preferably Solidworks) • Positive, self-motivated, systematic and controlled with a well-organised, communicative, confident, cooperative, high integrity and decisive approach under pressure • Practical knowledge in fluid dynamics, pressure vessels and materials Please note: High levels of interest mean we will only contact you if your application is shortlisted and this will happen within five working days.
