Overview
We are currently recruiting a Senior Engineer to join our Trackbed Consultancy team based in our Rail team in Nottingham. The team is part of a multi-disciplinary Asset Management group, and provides a range of services to the rail industry including site investigation, track stiffness assessments, consultancy services including design, trackbed performance modelling, specialist investigations at ‘problem’ sites, total route evaluations, research and innovation projects, and asset management. Our team is the biggest provider of trackbed investigation services in the UK, and is currently in contract with Network Rail in the UK mobilising up to 30 shifts across the UK Rail Network each week. We have been managing and delivering large programmes for over 15 years and are established leaders in our field. Projects range from discreet renewal sites to large re-modelling schemes, with scopes of variable complexities. We are unique in that we mobilise in house teams to deliver the site investigations, providing opportunity for the candidate to be involved in the operational, management and technical aspects of delivery.As a Senior Engineer you would be expected to: Work on a variety of projects from delivery of a factual report within the confines of a framework to more specialist consultancy within your area of expertise Have a sound knowledge base of railway engineering and contribute as a specialist in one or more areas of knowledge relating to Trackbed / Ground Engineering / Geotechnics / Railway Drainage, where expertise was typically developed through a combination of job-related training and on-the-job experience Writing and overseeing the preparation of reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant technical standards and contract technical remits Strong customer focus, with the acumen to cultivate and develop strong customer relations Propose improvements to existing processes and delivering solutions where precedent may not exist Work autonomously within established procedures and practices, with decisions guided by policy, procedures and business plan Determine work priorities based on general direction from Managers Provide leadership for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialisation May lead one or more teams in the delivery of work efforts Line Management duties Contribution to tenders Opportunity for the management or deputy management of projects We positively encourage diversity within the team, and as such all flexible and part time working requests will be considered. Minimum Requirements : Minimum 8 years experience within similar projects and 5 years experience within a consulting engineering environment; Experience of working in the UK Rail Industry and have a working knowledge of Network Rail Standards and within the operational rail environment.
