Overview

Qualified solicitor or FCILEx lawyer in Leeds required for one of the fastest growing Legal Firms in the UK and are on our way to becoming an industry leader through extensive growth and success. Working within the litigation department, the team has a dynamic blend of legal administrators, paralegals and solicitors dealing with both contentious and non-contentious litigation. The litigation department has grown from strength to strength over the over years, including obtaining landmark decisions for the different sectors (whether financial services, utilities or in the private parking sector) they operate in. THE JOB: This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor or FCILEx lawyer looking to become an integral part of the Litigation department and its supporting framework. As a qualified lawyer, you will be part of a team of solicitors that supervise non-standard defended county court claims and work with paralegals/case handlers and their respective Team Leaders to improve overall standards and the quality of work of the department as a whole. The underlying objective of this role is to supervise and audit the legal drafting and case management skills and competency of a small group of paralegals. You will provide support to the paralegals in terms of best practice, knowledge and strategy to ensure that cases progress in line with both the business's and the client's objectives. You will also be on hand to assist the paralegals with any complex queries regarding their cases and provide general support in respect of the development of the paralegal's core skills and knowledge. The role will also involve: Managing your own complex caseload such as non-standard technical defended matters, appeals, claims against clients etc. Supporting the management team in respect of employee development and training; Client query management; Providing internal updates to the department on any changes to the law Undertaking any other duties in line with the basic objectives of the post given to by management THE PERSON: We are looking for an individual with a thorough understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules in a debt recovery context. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: At least 3 years PQE as either a Solicitor or FCILEx Advanced working knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and court procedures At least 3 years Commercial/Debt Litigation experience dealing with small claims, fast track and multi-track cases.
