Buyer

A engineering business supporting the aerospace sector require a Buyer. The Buyer will be responsible for driving operational purchasing efficiencies around supplier management, before moving onto more strategic category management focused activities. The Buyer will join a small purchasing team of Buyers and Expeditors and report to the manager of the Supply Chain Department. The Buyer will be responsible for improving the business' use of MRP, stock management and approach to supplier management. In time the focus of the role will become more strategic, and focused on category management. Specific duties of the Buyer include: Procurement of; raw materials, sub contract services and engineered components Raise purchase orders and manage stock levels (MOQs, safety stocks, stock turns etc.) in company MRP Handle engineering change requests Manage operational supplier performance - drive achievement of OTIF via vender reports and scorecards Analysis of supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and reliability Work with Supply Chain Manager in regards to category management initiatives Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria: Procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering business Experienced in the use of MRP/ERP Experience of managing stock - setting safety stock levels and stock turns Ability to build relationships, analyse and drive improved supply chain performance, to hit OTIF An understanding of modern category management and supplier relationship management techniques Barclay Meade acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers and is part of Gattaca Plc.
