Overview
I am currently recruiting for a trainee hotline engineer for a client based in Kettering, who specialise in automated solutions for the automated warehousing industry. They design and install automated equipment and accompanying software to a variety of customers across the UK and internationally. Primary responsibility of role The role of the Trainee Systems Support Engineer is to assist in the management of live issues and expectation of our extensive customer base through the application of the 24 x 7 x 365 hotline function. Key Accountability's: Primary role objectives include, but are not limited to: To gain the experience and necessary technical skills to undertake a 24 x 7 technical support function and ensure it is available to all customers both internal and external via support desk cover. To perform basic maintenance activities to ensure that consistent and robust delivery is sustained. To assist customers in logging issues within the company ticketing system and ensuring they are then picked up by a Hotline Engineer for investigation and resolution To undertake the resolutions to client issues, supporting and assisting the account management team. Including site visits as appropriate. To manage the escalation procedure of customer issues when required. To integrate with the complementary Controls support function counterparts to deliver a seamless and enhanced service. Follow Company Health and Safety procedures and responsibilities as outlined Technical Experience: Operating systems: competent in windows based operating systems Competent in Linux/ Unix based operating systems at command line level. Able to carry out Linux administration tasks from the command line. Familiar with command line tools that are useful in the manipulation of data. Virtual machines - able to set up and manage virtual machines for all operating systems in use in the company Mobile device technology - able to set up, use and diagnose faults with truck mounted and handheld devices Networks - understands the principles behind wired and wireless networks Remove server management - managing user accounts, tokens etc. Problem solving - able to approach an unfamiliar problem in a methodical and analytical way Other experience: Degree or equivalent in a computing subject Deep and broad understanding of information technology Package 21,000-22,000 salary per annum 9-5 working hours Mon-Fri (37.5 working hour week) 25 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays (rising with continuous service) Cyle to work scheme Free onsite car parking Great pension contribution If you are interested in this role, please apply now with your up-to-date CV or email for more information.
