Overview
Tax Senior The firm is a modern accountancy practice with 3 offices across the UK, and also one of the longest established firms of accountants in the country. They act for a wide range of businesses and individuals, encompassing concerns of the self-employed and small families, as well as large, private sector companies. About the role: The position predominantly involves the day-to-day handling of the tax compliance requirements for a portfolio of 200 to 250 personal clients. Self-Assessment tax returns Managing the process of collating relevant information for those clients, as well as dealing with day-to-day enquiries from them. Where tax advisory requirements arise in respect of these clients, it is expected that the candidate would handle, or assist with handling these. Although specialist knowledge of tax planning matters and areas such as inheritance tax, trusts etc is not necessary, some degree of knowledge and awareness of these will be helpful. The role may also require, from time to time, that the candidate assist other members of the tax department with their cases where this is necessary to meet deadlines. Although the position generally reports to the departmental manager, work will from time-to-time be assigned directly by a partner in which case the candidate’s reporting line will be directly with that partner. About you : Our preference is for an ATT-qualified individual, or an individual who is ‘qualified by experience’. The candidate should have had at least three years’ experience of working within tax in a small to medium- sized accountancy practice. Well organised and efficient manner of working Reasonable degree of technical expertise in the field of personal taxation. Ideally they should be comfortable and adept at dealing with clients directly whether in correspondence, by telephone or in face to face meetings.
