You'll be a Support Worker at our children's home, working with children who have autism and severe learning disabilities. Part of a close-knit team, you'll support children and young people aged 11 to 19, supporting them with their daily lives and encouraging them to take part in community activities and hobbies. During the day the children go to the nearby MacIntyre school. We have full-time and part-time work available ( minimum 22.5 hours per week ),and you'll be working shifts include days, evenings and weekends. You may have been a care worker or healthcare assistant before, but if not don’t worry, you don’t need experience – so long as you have the right approach, we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you to gain your Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (free of charge), alongside other specialist training all provided on site by MacIntyre. The Diploma is a requirement for all Support Workers at our residential children's homes and you will need to obtain it within two years of starting your employment with us. Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies ensures we see the person first, not their behaviour or learning disability. Some things you need to know You’ll be supporting young people who have complex needs and may show challenging behaviour. Our specialist teams will support you to learn ways of helping them manage this behaviour. You must be willing to provide personal care where needed. Ideally you will have a full driving licence as you may be asked to drive service vehicles and obviously you will need to get to and from work - our children's home is in a rural location.
