POSITION: Financial Planning Trainee SALARY: National Minimum/Living Wage BENEFITS: Career Progression HOURS: Full-time LOCATION: Stourbridge, DY8 4BU DESCRIPTION: Our client, Paul McAllen & Co Ltd is an established Independent Financial Adviser business located a mile out of Stourbridge town centre. Due to continued success the company is seeking a Financial Planning Trainee. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the most forward-looking, creative and dynamic small firms in the Black Country and be fully trained in a profession. How would you like to work for a well-regarded firm with a view to joining a 5 year program to train you in all aspects of how to be an Independent Financial Adviser? Start at the bottom and learn about all the admin, research and back-office duties that are required to make a successful IFA firm function. Get to work closely with IFAs and the senior members of the team in formulating financial plans (investments, savings, pensions, tax planning and financial protection) for clients. Many IFAs offer new recruits the chance to join as a trainee but in return they are given quite stretching and challenging sales targets for someone with no experience and little skills. And clients don’t want an inexperienced IFA let loose on their finances. There’ll be no sales targets here initially this is all about a 5 year project to train the right people, at pace, the PM & Co way. Lots of opportunities exist for progression within the IFA firm in non-client-facing, adviser, research, planning and admin roles, too. If you want a hands-on “apprenticeship” in financial services, then this could be the role for you …but not on apprentice’s pay. This opportunity will suit someone who understands the need to work their way up within a profession, not walk in thinking they know it all on day one. This isn’t a role for you if you want a sales job and you think you’ll be in front of clients “next week”. The right candidate will understand that you don’t want to be put in front of clients until you’re ready. Working for PM & Co, you will be very ready. You’ll gain experience in all types of financial planning; you’ll be mentored and trained (and expected to work very hard for the opportunity). Progress is based on merit. Simply that. Starting salary is at National Minimum/Living Wage level but pay reviews are on merit. No one at PM & Co who has passed their first year earns National Minimum/Living Wage.
