The role As the Head of Fire Safety in this hospital Trust, you will act as a focus for all fire safety matters in the organisation with accountability for the coordination of fire safety matters, reporting up to board level. Through the provision of competent advice, you will be a key component in setting the strategic direction of fire safety within the Trust and facilitate compliance with the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) and other related legislation. As the competent person for fire, you will work closely with all relevant parties within the hospital and externally to deliver a fire safe environment for patients/staff/visitors and to facilitate sustained care and well-being in relation to fire safety. You will also lead the multi-disciplinary professional team forming an integral part of the Trust’s Estates & Facilities Directorate, responsible for the provision and content of fire training and for undertaking suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments in support of Trust management and their compliance with the FSO. Essential requirements In-depth fire safety knowledge as well as significant experience in fire safety management in a complex environment. A minimum of a NEBOSH Fire but preferably a CFPA Diploma or equivalent with evidence of CPD. Senior Management and team leadership experience. Strategic thinking Strong legislation knowledge is required, especially RRO and HTM as well as skills training, auditing, inspecting and managing contractors. What’s in it for you?
