Chemist (Polymers)c£Competitive Bonus Benefits South East AB/J4588 Six month contract – initially A chemist with an interest or experience in polymers is urgently required to work closely with the senior scientist within R&D teams to help drive the development of new products.As a chemist you will help support to deliver research & development programs and support the introduction of new prototypes and products to their customers. As a polymer chemist you will independently plans and executes technical work programs associated with projects. As a chemist you will be able to lead a straightforward technical project under supervision. You will have a detailed understanding in a specific technical area and as a chemist with experience of polymers you will be able to apply your knowledge effectively. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES · Pro-actively identify, report on and improve safety related issues using available tools and systems. · Prepare and test laboratory samples to support the development of the business · Provide practical technical support to Operations and Customers · Keep detailed records of laboratory work; discuss results with supervisor and provide logical suggestions to solve problems met; write occasional reports · Develop and maintain an understanding of the Department's application areas · Play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe standard of laboratory housekeeping Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required: · Degree (preferable connected to polymerisation) Chemistry,Polymer Science, Material Science, or a related subject · Good understanding or interest in organic chemistry and polymer synthesis or polymerisation. Experience of market driven product development, proven experience of understanding customer needs and a strong technical pedigree to translate ideas into products · Some experience in a R&D environment, preferably in a polymer or composites related field. · Experience of research related to Polymer Science. · An understanding of plastics, adhesives composites coatings, or additives or and/or polymer modification/testing would be a distinct advantage They offer an attractive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience as well as associated benefits, including Bonus (non-guaranteed) and Pension Scheme.
