Overview
The firm’s goal is to become the leading national advisor focused on making a social impact. The role of Head of Marketing & Business Development is critical to our success as a sector specialist firm, accountable for developing the marketing and business development function to be an engine for growth within the firm, helping to build the profile and presence that we want in all our markets. As the Head of Marketing the role will include: Be responsible for shaping and developing the firm’s marketing approach to enhance and support business development and client retention; Define the part that marketing and business development should play in supporting the achievement of the firm’s goal; Effectively lead and manage the marketing and business development function, team and its resources, to deliver the strategy of the firm; Develop the firm’s brand, reputation and visibility in our chosen B2B and B2C markets; Be a wise, integral and positive member of the firm’s senior leadership, playing an active part in the development of the business; Develop, review and refine the marketing and business development strategy and its effective implementation, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Partner, the Board, and Sector Leads; Oversee end-to-end client journey planning, how this should look and be delivered; Responsible for the effectiveness of marketing and business development plans, working closely with key senior stakeholders to address business needs and effectively allocate the marketing budget to enable them to meet defined business objectives; Manage the firm’s client listening programme, working with relevant stakeholders, translating the results into objectives and developing best practice across our sectors; Work with the marketing team to package and present the legal services to articulate and support the brand proposition, contributing to increased profile in the designated market sectors; Prepare new product marketing plans in cooperation with colleagues in each key sector and the marketing team; Ensure relevant marketing and business development processes and policies are in place and clearly communicated within the firm to ensure marketing and brand consistency throughout the firm; Ensure the effectiveness of internal communications, contributing to the development of a positive environment and culture; Develop a thriving team, ensuring that each team member is supported, motivated, challenged and developed to give their best. Stimulate the development of a positive, proactive service culture within the marketing and business development team where everyone takes responsibility for their contribution; Ensure and develop the effectiveness of bid and tender processes, and approaches to Client Relationship Management, working with the partners as key stakeholders; Develop a mentoring role to encourage and challenge partners and senior personnel to improve the effectiveness of their business development activity; Further develop and promote thought leadership within the business; Provide leadership in the development of Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP as a purpose-led business; acting as a role model to staff in demonstrating the values and culture of the firm; Who we're looking for: Experience/Expertise Required Significant experience of leading marketing and business development functions within a legal or similar professional services environment; An aptitude for influencing and implementing change in an ethos driven environment; Demonstrable project management experience; An outstanding marketing and business development skillset with the proven ability to orchestrate client-facing activity and develop people’s understanding of how to do this most effectively. Essential Criteria Aligned with the values of the firm and able to operate effectively within a values-based commercial environment; Ability to command attention and influence senior business professionals, both internally and externally, and willing to listen, learn and develop positions, as appropriate; Skilled strategic and analytical thinker with a relevant degree, able to make decisions based on relevant data and the strategic intent of the firm; A team-focused, experienced and supportive leader of people, and a natural team player Relational maturity, emotional intelligence and self-awareness to get the best out of themselves and others; Proven ability to combine personal humility with ambition for collective achievement; Ability to enjoy and work effectively within a complex and nuanced environment; Ability to develop and deliver quality service to internal and external clients; An aptitude for generating and implementing change in a commercial environment; Excellent communication and listening skills and high emotional intelligence; Project management experience - getting things done in a structured way; A commitment to continuous improvement and self-development; Significant professional knowledge and expertise across the breadth of marketing, business development, communications, digital channels, and brand development; A good understanding of the changes and challenges facing the legal and wider professional services sector.
